The system has a built-in mechanism for automatic detection of duplicate (or suspected of being duplicate) patient cards. If the system detects that there are two patient cards with the same PESEL number or two cards with the same name, surname and date of birth in the database, and the logged in user has the rights to merge patient cards, then a red flashing person icon appears in the page header with an "x" sign.

After clicking this icon, a new window opens with a list of potentially duplicate patient records.

Next to each patient there is a "Go to merging" button, clicking which redirects you to the functionality of merging patient cards.
